Winfield and Ruth DeCastro started the farm stand in 1961, selling vegetables that they grew on their 7 acres. They passed on their knowledge and passion for farming to their three sons, Stephen, Tom, and Rich, who continued the tradition and expanded the stand into its current location on East Main Road. The DeCastro family now grows over 100 acres of food and provides Rhode Island with their very own fresh native produce and flowers.
DeCastro's is locally famous for their straight-from-the-field, daily picked corn. They also grow their own string beans, tomatoes, cabbage, summer squash and cucumbers, among other vegetables. As a retail provider, DeCastro's provides their produce to local grocery stores on Aquidneck Island, including Shaw's, Stop & Shop, and Clements Marketplace.
We offer only the freshest quality fruits and vegetables, most of which we grow on our 100 acre farm. We grow our own corn, string beans, winter and summer squash, cabbage, peppers, pumpkins and gourds, tomatoes and basil among others.
Whether you’re looking for a special gift, or just want to add beauty to your garden, we have what you need! In the spring, our greenhouses are full of annuals and perennials, hanging flowers, and impatiens; fall brings mums, and we carry poinsettias in the winter.
DeCastro Farms has all you need for landscaping your lawn or business. We carry bagged top soil, mulch, manure and fertilizer to keep your plants healthy and looking their best, as well as a large selection of shrubs and ready-to-plant trees in the spring.
We proudly carry specialty meats, cheeses, honey and preservatives from other Rhode Island businesses including Narragansett Creamery, Arruda's Dairy, Dom’s marinated steak tips, chicken & turkey tips, Willow Tree chicken salads, hot dogs, hamburgers & bacon, and Little Farm honey and eggs. Local is best!
